Pope Benedict XVI

Jesus of Nazareth

Personally, I stand in awe of my Creator who created me. What Pope Benedict is doing in this book is laying the foundation for the New Evangelization so that the unity in the church may be realized and then be fullfilled in us; The Bride of Christ, His Church and that the Divine Will can be operating and fulfilled in us on earth as it is in Heaven. As we pray in the Our Father, "Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven". By living in His Will; all of creation will be restored and we will once again live in the garden as God originally planned.

Pope Benedict writes in his book Jesus of Nazareth, "Because our being comes from God, we are able, despite all of the defilement that holds us back, to set out on the way to God's Will. The Old Testament concept of the "just man" meant exactly that: to live from the Word of God, and so from His Will, and to find that path that leads in harmony.

For "Kingdom of God" means "dominion of God," and this means that His Will is accepted as the true criterion. His Will establishes justice, and part of justice is that we give God His just due and, in doing, discover the criterion for what is just due among men" (pg. 146).

"With the petition "thy Kingdom come" the Lord wants to show us how to pray and order our action in just this way. The first and essential thing is a listening heart, so that God, not we, may reign. The Kingdom of God come by way of a listening heart. That is the path. That is what we must pray for again and again. The encouter with Christ makes this petition even deeper and concrete. We have seen that Jesus is the Kingdom in Person. The Kingdom of God is present whereever He is present. B the same, token, the request for a listening heart becomes a request for communion with Jesus Christ, the petition that we increasingly become "one with Him (Galatians 3:28). What is requested in this petition is the true following of Christ, which becomes communion with Him and makes us one body with Him. REnhold Schneider expressed powerfully: "the life of this Kingdom is Christ's continuing life in those who are His own. In the heart that is no longer nourished by the vital pwer of Christ, the Kingdom end; in the heart that is touched and transformed by it, the Kingdom begins....The roots of the indestructible tree seek to penetrate in it each heart. The Kingdom is one. It exists solely through the Lord who is its life, its strength, and its center" (Das Vaterunser, pp. 31F). To pray for the Kingdom of God is to say to Jesus: Let us be yours, Lord! Pervade us, live in us, gathered scattered humanity in your body, so that in you everything may be subordinated to God and you can then hand over the universe to the Father, in order that "God may be all in all." (1Cor 15:28). (pg. 146-147).

St. Thomas Aquinas

Summa Thelogica-LXXIII

That God’s Will Is His Essence

It is evident from the foregoing that His will is not distinct from His essence.

For it belongs to God to have a will in as much as He has an intellect, as proved above. Now He is intelligent by His essence, as we have already shown:2 and consequently will also is in Him by His essence. Therefore God’s will is His very essence.

Again. Even as to understand is the perfection of one who is intelligent, so to will is the perfection of one who wills, for each is an action abiding in the agent, and not passing into something passive, as heating. Now God’s act of intelligence is His being, as we proved above; because, since God’s being is by itself supremely perfect, it admits of no additional perfection, as we have shown above.4 Therefore the divine willing is also His being: and consequently God’s will is His essence.

Moreover. Since every agent acts in so far as it is actual, it follows that God, Who is pure act, acts by His essence. Now willing is an operation of God. Therefore it follows that God wills by His essence. Therefore His will is His essence.

Again. If will were something added to the divine substance, since the divine substance is complete in being, it would follow that will would be adventitious to Him like an accident to its subject; that the divine substance would be compared thereto as potentiality to act; and that there is composition in God. All of which have been disproved above. It is therefore impossible for the divine will to be something in addition to the divine essence.

Prayer from Jesus to Luisa

"Jesus, I know that you love me and out of love for you I embrace everyone and everything with your Will and I want to love you, praise you, bless you, adore you and thank you and make reparation for myself and for everyone past, present and future in the Divine Will together wth Mary Most Holy. Amen."

What is yours in mine and what is mine is yours. What are we doing here?  What is Justice?  Giving back to God His Just due.  All of creation belongs to Him.
